ACU’s Step Up into Teaching (SUIT) program is transforming access to higher education for Year 11–12 students from low socio-economic, First Nations and first-in-family backgrounds. The program enables students to complete two first-year education units during school holidays, gain full university credit and secure conditional early entry into a teaching degree — removing traditional ATAR barriers while building academic confidence.

In 2025, SUIT reached a record 126 graduates — a 50 per cent increase from the previous year — with 87 per cent progressing directly into teaching degrees, strengthening Australia’s pipeline of future educators.

Fully partner-funded and cost-free for students, SUIT is delivered with Catholic dioceses, schools and education systems, ensuring sustainable reach and equity. With national expansion planned, including in new regional and First Nations hubs, SUIT is cultivating a diverse new generation of teachers — building confidence, aspiration and belonging in classrooms across Australia.
